Term 4, Week 1

Welcome back everyone and I hope you all had a wonderfully restful holiday! A particularly warm welcome to our four new children and their families – we are so excited about sharing our learning with you :)

Athletics day is coming up just around the corner and this week we’ll be tuning up our overarm throwing skills, standing side on to our target, using our “strong” pose, and leaning into our throw to give it more power. When you are practising at home, remember to use the other arm to point towards the place you are aiming for, and to look along your pointing arm as you launch your ball.

We’ll also be potting up some cress and mustard friends to liven up our (currently empty!) little greenhouse, and closely monitoring our potato in a bucket. We’ll have a number of different maths assessment exercises this week as Miss Driver narrows down our individual next steps, and we’ll also be enjoying some brand new guided readers just arrived at the school – happily there are a number there by one of our favourite authors, Joy Cowley. We have some creative and transactional writing to do, and will have a chance to practise our typing skills when we publish our work on the COW on Thursday. Other highlights of the week include a touch rugby session on Monday, a Kelly Sport Dance session on Thursday, and a visit from Mrs Laurence on Thursday when Miss Driver is on a science course.

Do have a careful look at this week’s newsletter and check for dates to diarise – it’s going to be a busy term!
