Term 2, Week 3

Thanks to all for another very productive week in Room 3! We completed our Change topic, began and finished our first mixed media art works (our self portraits), worked on our fitness and coordination, learned to use our Chinese “talking posters”, and read, wrote and learned to tell the time (whole hours). We even had a visit from some fabulous frogs, and drew chalk butterflies to recognise NZSL (sign language) deaf awareness week!

This week is another busy one in Room 3 as we continue with the Chinese programme and Bible in Schools, and begin the KOS (keeping ourselves safe) programme with Constable Garland (our new topic focus). You will receive a copy of the KOS home book with related exercises to work on over the next three weeks. Our class programme aligns with home book activities one and two this week :)

We’re also looking forward to a visit from an NZSL School Champion on Monday morning who will share some learning with us. As well as kapa haka (hopefully our instructor will be well this week!), Miss Driver is running practice sessions for jump jam on Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes with the support of some of our fabulous senior students – hoping to see lots of very fit Room 3 learners there! We’re also beginning a unit about music (listening focus) this week, and students are invited to bring a CD of their favourite music to school on Thursday (optional, no pressure!) to share with the class. We are thrilled to welcome back Mrs Fleur Jessop on Wednesday while Miss Driver is on release :)

Just a reminder that many students still need to bring the $4 for the upcoming Valanga Khoza performance to Miss Driver :) Looks like it should be a great show!
